Cliché Verre Presentation and Workshop
November 7, 2015

We explored Cliché Verre – a method of either etching, painting or drawing on a transparent surface, such as glass, thin paper or film and printing the resulting image on a light sensitive paper in a photographic darkroom. This event was part of our Wisconsin Humanities Council Grant.

Ghost Photo Booth
October 30, 2015

In the spirit of the season, Gallery 224 Studios hosted a free impromptu photo session with a 4x5 format camera, where folks posed with an array of seasonal decorations and props or used movement to create a “ghost image” reminiscent of 19th century spirit photography. This event was part of our Wisconsin Humanities Council Grant.

Darkroom Tours
October 3, 2015

This photographer's dream tour started at Port Exploreum with "The Man Behind the Camera" exhibit of Vernon Biever's photographic career and ended with a stroll to Gallery 224 Studio for a tour of its newly constructed darkroom, which is currently in use. This event was part of our Wisconsin Humanities Council Grant.

Analog Photography in the Digital World

In this interactive lecture, Jasmine Alinder, Ph.D. – associate professor of history at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee – discussed some of the key issues that have arisen in the recent shift from analog to digital photography. This event was part of our Wisconsin Humanities Council Grant.

Pinhole Photography Workshop
August 29, 2015

This event included an introductory lecture and discussion on the history and principles of pinhole photography followed by a workshop, where participants constructed their own cameras which they used to explore downtown Port Washington. This event was part of our Wisconsin Humanities Council Grant.

Paint the Market
July 25 thru August 29, 2015

This was a wonderful time spent painting outside at the Port Washington Farmers Market on Saturday mornings AND prize money was given out to several lucky winners! This event was part of our Wisconsin Humanities Council Grant.

Cyanotype Workshops
July 25 and 26, 2015

Cyanotype: Looking Blue and Cyanotype: Books on the Beach were two workshops run by Carissa Heinrichs as part of our Wisconsin Humanities Council Grant. Some history of the process as well as a demonstration and then some hands-on made these informational and fun workshops. This event was part of our Wisconsin Humanities Council Grant.
