*UPDATE: Gallery 224 is proud to announce the opening of Gallery 224 Studios, a new artist in residency program created in partnership with the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design. The studios are located in the lower level of the newly restored Boerner Mercantile Building in downtown Port Washington. We invite the public to come and visit the studios to see the artists in action. Studio hours are Saturdays 9:00 am - 3:00 pm or by appointment, starting February 1. This residency program is made possible by a grant from the Greater Milwaukee Foundation's Mary L. Nohl Fund.



Tonia Klein

Tonia Klein received her Bachelors of Fine Art in Painting from Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design in 2007. Klein had her first solo international exhibition “Recurrence” at Flash Atölye, in Izmir, Turkey in January 2013. She received a Mary L Nohl Travel Suitcase Grant for this exhibition. Monica Miller

Monica Miller is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. As a recent graduate of the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, she investigates the relationship between performance and audience through both sculptural and digital media. She has exhibited throughout the state of Wisconsin. Monica is an active contributor to the curatorial group Swim Team. Visit Monica's website at

Alice M. Waraxa

Alice M. Waraxa received her BFA in Fine Art Photography from Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design in May 2013 and has an Associate's Degree in the Applied Science of Photography from MATC-Milwaukee, 2009. Her interests lie in Photography and all natural fibers, metal, wood. She employs various techniques in felting, sewing, collage making as well as book arts and sculpture. Elise Thomm

Elise Thomm is a working artist from Manitowoc, Wisconsin. She graduated from the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design in the Spring of 2013 with a BFA in Integrated Studio Arts. Her work has been shown at the Milwaukee Art Museum for MAM After Dark, Port Washington's Gallery 224, and at the Emerging Artist Gallery within the Sharon Lynn Wilson Center. Her present focus in material is being pursued through wearable sculptural forms, presenting those forms by use of photography. Visit Elise's website at

Elizabeth Ann Guokas

Elizabeth Ann Guokas grew up in Saukville, WI. She spent her freshman year in Baltimore at the Maryland Institute College of Art, and is now a senior at UW Milwaukee, studying film and video in the Peck School of the Arts.
