Project-Based Artist in Residence Program

Studio 224 is located in downtown Port Washington, Wisconsin, at 211 North Franklin Street. The studio includes an analog photography darkroom, a monotype press and an etching press, as well as onsite photography and printmaking instruction. The residency provides a safe, clean and generous shared studio space to develop and complete your printmaking and or photography based project. In addition, there is free off street parking, 24 hour access to the studio, and a security system.

Applicants are required to propose a specific project, and the timeframe needed to complete the project. The project must incorporate printmaking and or photography. The proposed timeframe must not exceed 12 weeks. Project supplies are primarily the responsibility of the artist, but may be negotiated.

The Studio Space is shared with several other artists, which is generally an asset for the creative exchange of ideas and expertise, and creates a sense of community and support. Applicants should also be aware that there are ongoing programs related to the studio, primarily on Saturdays, and that the studio is open to the public every Saturday from 9:00-3:00. Applicants are encouraged to visit the studio before applying and may arrange for a personal tour.

The Selection Committee includes faculty from the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design, Milwaukee Peck School of the Arts or UW Manitowoc, an Advisory Board member, and Studio staff. Application review may also include an interview, either by phone or in person, and possibly a studio visit.

You may apply at any time, the review process is ongoing.

Application Includes:
• A one page resume, which includes your name, full address, email, and phone number.
