"Exploring 3D Photography"
with Hal Rammel at Studio 224

There are many ways to create 3D photographs and exploring these methods has been a key part of photography from its very beginnings in the early 1800s. Our conversation at the table included a hands-on opportunity to view stereoscopes and stereoview cards from the late 1800s, Realist twin lens 3D cameras made in Milwaukee in the 1940s, and the ever-popular View-Masters of the 1950s. Many of these photographic curiosities were available to view and the discussion included the science behind how they work and some demonstration of how stereo photos can be produced from relatively simple means.
